The Arb Again

The Potato is giddy. In the last game of the "Big Game" before the conference is realigned and every team with a pulse makes the dance it was Michigan who came out on top.

Side Note: Just think next year we could play Ohio State 3 weeks in a row - college football got it all wrong this time.

The Potato was also wrong - it does happen! The Potato thought Ryan Day would come out firing going for it on 4th downs and not settling after the last few year’s debacles. But, no, it didn't take more than the first drive to see that Ryan Day is not ready for prime time. The Potato wouldn’t be lying when he saw that first punt that he knew we were going to win - not easy of course, but were going to win.

Ryan Day coaches like he's playing Michigan State, not Michigan, and if you want to win titles you got to go for it on 4th and 1s and not settle for 50 yard field goals in college. Those two decisions could easily have cost OSU the game. And, the odd (no one talks about) not using your last time out to let the clock go down made zero sense. Use your time out - you can’t predict the future!

But, the focus shouldn't be on Day. It should be on Michigan! This is the most complete team we've ever seen in our program. What a run of winning. They are humble, they play together, they play for their coach, they play for their fans, and it's fun to watch - albeit a bit boring as we crush 80% of our opponents - not complaining!

While Ohio State broods for another 365 days, we’ve got one more to go before we get to the dance and it's likely a must win against Iowa. Losing would be devasting so let's not do it!

Bowl Championship Predictions

New Mexico St. vs Liberty - 10.5 - give me the Lobos. This team is playing good ball right now smoking Auburn (who blew it against Bama) just a few weeks ago. Liberty wins in a tight one score game.

Washington vs Oregon - 9.5 - wow this line is even more than the Potato thought which would be 6ish. Super insulting to Washington. Oregon is def the better team and Washington has been scrapping by all season. I think there time comes but 9.5 does seem like a lot. Oregon hasn’t proven much this year frankly. I'll take the points and pray - Oregon wins by 7.

Oklahoma St. vs Texas - 14 Texas is not getting enough respect. Oklahoma St. is a total wildcard team. Texas needs to win big, and breezes late and wins by 17.

Miami OH vs Toledo - 8  - Take Toledo. That’s the type of analysis you all expect when reading the Potato!

Alabama vs Georgia - 5 - Does anyone really know here? Bama needs a miracle to get by a bad Auburn team who just lost to New Mexico St. by 20. Georgia just knows how to win better than anyone else these days but their schedule was softer than the Pillsbury Doughboy. I’m not buying the SEC this year as great and Georgia had some hiccups along the way, too. If they can contain Milroe just enough they should win by a touchdown. But, Bama as a dog getting 5 points, almost never happens? Neither team is one of their best, but it just might be good enough to get another title. Give me Georgia, this Bama team just won't have enough to get it done.

Louisville vs Florida St. -5. I don’t trust Louisville at all. Take FSU who will be just fine with their backup QB and goes undefeated.

Iowa vs Michigan -23 - the spread is 23 and the over under is 35. That's nuts. Vegas is predicting 29-6. For a title game. Wow. Vegas is saying Iowa won't score a TD!  Take the over and Michigan wins 31-13. Another perfect regular season and onto the final 4 for the third year in a row. What a run!

PREDICTION: Michigan 31- Iowa 13
