The cream is starting to rise to the top.

Most times in sports you get a million back stories that are a lot of fun along the way, but once all is said and done you're left with the two best teams or damn close at least.

And, this past weekend, both Michigan and Georgia truly staked claim to being the two best teams in the country. Which they are.

Georgia because well it's Georgia, and Michigan because they have the same team as last year but are now even more experienced and hungry.

We're likely headed for a collision course in the playoffs, but we still have a long way to go...

Ohio State just doesn't look great, getting beat on the lines by Maryland for most of the game was pretty surprising.

Oklahoma had a super impressive win but it felt like Texas had to do everything wrong for that to happen - but regardless - it was a great game and a nice win.

Notre Dame is done. That was a shocker.

USC should be done, but they aren't just yet. They will lose to Notre Dame.

Alabama is starting to shape up for an average Bama team.

The ACC has FSU, Louisville, Miami, and UNC vying for 1 spot, but I’m not sure I’m buying any of them as title contenders just yet (FSU’s LSU win isn’t looking as impressive (especaily with that LSU defense), they should have lost to Clemson, and they barely beat BC) – they are good, but not elite.

We've got a few sneaky 1 loss teams that will thin out over the next few weeks.

And, we got the Pac 12 showdown between Oregon and Washington - meeting for the first time with both teams in the top 10 - in over 100 years! The winner has the inside track to the dance.

But, after it’s all said and done, come championship time, you’re going to see the names we thought would be there from the start Georgia and… Michigan, I hope!

BASEBALL PLAYOFFS

As everyone knows or will know, the Potato is all about tinkering with the rules to make the game more enjoyable. Usually the sport makes the change at some point in time – it just takes a loooong while – starting with baseball.

A big pat on the back for baseball making a ton of changes to speed up the game. It’s no longer a bore-fest! It does move fast now – too fast dare I say when you’re at a game! Television it’s still sloooow.

But I just can't buy having teams play 162 games and then you give them only a best of three in the playoffs. It just doesn't seem right. Why not do a best of five with 2 double headers? It takes the same number of days and gives a much better indicator who really is the best team. Plus, you make more dough. The worst team in baseball can easily win 2 games in a row. Change it!

COLLEGE IN A BREEZE

There's only one big breeze this week and it's in the northwest. This game's got me giddy all week! The Pac 12 showdown...

Oregon vs Washington - 3 Great teams. Great QBs. Great game day experiences. This one's going to be nuts. There's really no way to know here. My gut says Oregon is slightly better on a neutral field, but they aren't on a neutral field. Give me Washington, 38-34.

UCLA vs Oregon St - 5.5 Poor Chip Kelly. The first time in his life he has a solid defense and now he doesn’t have an offense? The football gods are brutal. Pac 12 land I like the home teams. Take Oregon St.

USC vs Notre Dame - 2.5 – USC is not elite. ND should be able to do just enough to hold off USC at home.

Miami vs UNC - 3.5 - this should have been the other game of the week, but apparently Miami's Cristobal can’t see the future and doesn't know how to take a knee. If you didn't see, all Miami had to do was take a knee and they win. The scary part is he's done it before while at Oregon! While it's pretty bad luck to have two running backs fumble late - just don't take those chances. This is no brainer stuff!

MICHIGAN -34.5 vs INDIANA PREDICTION: (5-0-1 so far) 6 games in and still undefeated! 34+ is a lot of points but Indiana is bad and sometimes that's all the analysis you need. They went to OT against Akron! and were down 24 at half against Maryland. Michigan BIG. 52-13.

MORTAL LOCK (3-3 so far): 3-3 cooling off, Texas had their chances but they blew them. Simple as that. I'm not backing down just yet! Give me Notre Dame or Texas Tech. Hmmm, Notre Dame!
