Colorado was the cute, fun early story (distraction) of college football that we all knew - or should have knew - would come crashing down. Give Deion his due though, Colorado is now sorta relevant which is incredible in such short order, but he's got a few more years before Colorado is elite.

I'm glad that is over so we can now focus on the true contenders the rest of the way. The real game of the week/preseason was the heavyweight battle between Ohio State and Notre Dame. We got an old school defensive battle which was a joy to watch till Notre Dame blew it at the end with a variety of blunders.

Give OSU their credit, but just like in most things from poker to sports - it’s almost always the mistakes from the losers that are the doom, and not the great plays from the winners that are the difference. Coach Belichick from New England knows that better than anyone - that’s his entire philosphy basically!

Notre Dame’s defense on the 3rd and 19 was just atrocious - please every defensive coach out there - stop rushing 3 inside the 20 - make that ever - it doesn’t work! The 10 players twice obviously was unfortunate of course, too.

This is a pretty average Ohio State team (meaning they are a bottom top 10 team!) and it will be interesting to see if they get upset somewhere along the way (Wisconsin/Penn St.?).

Would an 11-1 OSU team with their only loss at Michigan get in... again? I don't think so this year with the Pac 10 being so deep, FSU miraculously winning again, SEC, and Texas/Oklahoma could easily go the distance, too.

As for Michigan - rough start, but after that initial mistake they played pretty well. We only had like 7 possessions the whole game which was a bit odd, but we basically moved the ball on 6 of those drives – and Rutgers isn’t terrible.

Michigan still feels sleepy and we need to wake up soon. Nebraska is up next and while they are not a strong opponent, we'll be going on the road for the first time and that's always scary.

That being said, we're a veteran bunch and I just have this feeling that when folks start sleeping on us is when we start playing some real ball.

All we can do is play who we have in front of us and we really should go 9-0 till we play at Happy Valley and then all bets are off... the Big 10 is just terrible this year besides the big 3 – and maybe a sprinkle of Maryland or Wisconsin.

MICHIGAN -17.5 vs NEBRASKA PREDICTION: (3-0-1 so far) I think this is the break out and cover game for Michigan. Nebraska might even score some points, but our offense will play the full game and we will pull away in the late third for a 41-20 victory.

MORTAL LOCK (3-1 so far): Iowa st. was a nice victory. Let’s keep it going. Give me Wyoming -14 against New Mexico. Wyoming is good and New Mexico is bad!
